The Views of an Outsider
In the year 2018 America's representatives are playing with the lives of her citizens. The statement above doesn't just go for the republicans, but for the democrats as well. Coming from a black man that is a registered independent neither blue nor red will be the colors pushing me to the polls. A desire for a more global outlook is wanted. I will always have my eyes glued to the news for current events and updates but a deep understanding is needed.
This not merely a critique but an analyst concerning the current state of America's political system. El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X) once described the American political system as a slick fox (Democrats) and a growling wolf (Republicans) battling to the death so either side could gain the trust of the American people. Now, I may not go as far as to call neither party a "derogatory" name but I am going to be honest and straight to the point. Some fifty-three years ago when this analogy was spoken it caused some controversy. Fifty-three years later controversy still follows this analogy. We shouldn't look for controversy to leave this analogy as a large percentage of the poor and working class look to politicians for their needs.
Below will be my analogy of both political parties. First and foremost this analogy is purely based upon my views and opinions of each party, respectfully.
First we shall start with the Democratic Party:
Since the nomination of former First Lady and senator Hillary Clinton at the 2016 DNC (Democratic National Convention) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the party has changed it's base. If the dems would like to thank anyone for this it should be to Senator. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Before Bernie it the scene the party wasn't concerned with universal healthcare, free tuition, police reform, taxation on the rich, etc. Once Sanders was giving the back door the DNC thought it was a good idea to attach his "progressive" ideals for better voting turnouts. To the surprise of the American public (not the country at large) the party fell hard. On the days and weeks following November 8, 2016 the democrats would decide to move further left, hoping to draw out a new agenda.
If one thought that the democrats became desperate let's check out the Republican Party:
When Donald J. Trump won the nomination at the RNC (Republican National Convention) in Cleveland, Ohio I thought that the republicans couldn't stoop so low. A man that is clearly a racist, bigoted, billionaire businessman was able to travel from state to state destroying his republican counterparts. Not to mention that those counterparts were mayors, governors, senators, and congressmen. In other words those that surrounded Trump during the primaries were "establishment" politicians. Whether we like it or not Trump fitted right in with the republicans base on a lot of things including immigration, border patrol, tax cuts, etc. Republicans already had the control of congress, but they needed a mascot to do their work (making it look appeasing to the base at the same time).
Control is the vital force behind politics. The particular party of a politician doesn't matter. It could be easy to say that both parties answer to the same pay master. We should all be lucky and grateful that we live in a nation that gives us the right to vote, which helps us state our choices and opinions. As I mentioned before neither party is getting my vote come November 6.
My purpose for writing this in not to discourage any citizen capable of voting, but as a voice of understanding. If you would like to try to persuade me from the left or right than go ahead and try. Well you like Sanders, that's fine. Well you like Trump, and that's fine too. No matter what I'm going to think and do for myself until 2020.
