Is Snowden Next?
As we all know at this very moment Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi is classified as dead. Khashoggi was known for creating a platform for progressive ideals for the media in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Khashoggi was very outspoken regarding the wrongful arrest of activists. This man's voice was a voice of change. Jamal Ahmed Khashoggi will surely be missed, not just by his country but by the whole world.
Meanwhile, the world is mourning the death of Mr. Khashoggi there's another person with a groundbreaking mind and voice I'm afraid for. This person is no other than computer programmer and former C.I.A. employee Edward Snowden. Although Khashoggi and Snowden are apart of two different professions and causes/or movements their voices carry torches so others can fellow suit. Mr. Snowden is currently living in Moscow under temporary asylum, petitioning in 21 other countries as well.
It seems as if there's an horrendous trend of killing outspoken figures and citizens while their away from their homeland. This has been going on for a while now starting with the assassination of Boris Nemtsov in 2015. Our latest causality is Khashoggi and one would only hope Snowden won't be next (God forbid if it ever happens). So far so good for Snowden. Although he's a resident of Moscow, Russia he has recorded lecture's around the world concerning cyber-security, global surveillance, etc.
Living in the United States of America we do have the right of free speech and a free press. However, we are under an administration that discredits the media and cherry picks outlets that they see as time worthy of viewership. We should all know and understand is that if the president doesn't like a report or a topic he calls it "fake news." This dangerous way of downgrading the country's media goes way back to Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. History claims that we fought in the second world war to fight the Nazi's and the Imperial Japanese so the world could be a peaceful place of brotherly love. I hope history didn't lie on itself.
Before I'm an American I'm a Black man. Before I'm a Black man I'm human. As a human I stand by truth no matter who says it. I'm down for what's right no matter who it's for or against. At this point I am willing to work side by side with anybody who's sick and tired of the direction that the world is going in.
Khashoggi was human and so is Snowden. Whether both of these men are on the right side of history should be up to you to decide, not the powers that be. It is my pleasure to bring fourth an analyst of two patriots who spoke up and told the truth. My job is done, now it's your job to do the math.
